Birthstones

There are a number of different birthstone traditions that connect a particular gem with a month of the year. The modern day list was adopted in 1912 by the American National Association of Jewelers, which later evolved into Jewelers of America (a national jewelers association), and is the accepted list of today. Jewelry incorporating someone's birthstone makes for a very special, personal, sentimental gift. Wedding jewelry often incorporates these gemstones for their symbolic meaning.
